Ham and Swiss Sandwich

A classic, no-fuss sandwich piled high with savory deli ham, melty Swiss cheese, fresh tomato, and crisp lettuce on hearty whole wheat bread. Served with sliced apples on the side, this quick and easy lunch comes together in just 5 minutes.

Ingredients

Pantry

  • 2 Tomatoes

  • 2 Apples

Fridge and Freezer

  • ¼ cup of Mayonnaise (optional)

  • ¼ cup Mustard (optional)

  • 8 oz Deli Ham

  • 8 slices Whole Wheat Bread

  • 4 slices Swiss Cheese (optional)

  • 4-8 leaves Green Lettuce

Directions
  1. Wash hands with soap and water. Wash and dry the produce. Slice the apples. Pull 4-8 leaves of lettuce, wrap the head of lettuce and put it away. Slice the tomato using a cutting board and sharp knife.

  2. Lay out 8 slices of bread on a clean surface, such as a cutting board or plates.

  3. Spread mayonnaise (if desired) and mustard (if desired) on 4 slices of bread. Top with ham, cheese (omit for dairy-free), tomato, then lettuce.

  4. Put the 4 sandwiches together and serve with apple slices on the side. Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours.
