Monte Cristo
The Monte Cristo is a classic French-inspired sandwich featuring savory Canadian bacon and melted Swiss cheese layered between slices of bread, dipped in an egg batter, and pan-fried until golden brown. This rich and crispy twist on a ham and cheese sandwich is perfect for breakfast.

8 slices White Bread
Fridge and Freezer
¼ cup Mustard
¼ cup Mayonnaise
4 Eggs
8 slices Canadian Bacon
4 slices Swiss Cheese
2 tbs Butter
1 basket Strawberries
Directions
Wash hands with soap and water. Wash, hull and slice the strawberries. Place in a bowl and set aside.
Beat 4 eggs in a shallow dish and season with salt and pepper, if desired.
Spread mustard and mayonnaise (if desired) on bread and make 4 sandwiches, each with 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of swiss cheese. Press the sandwiches slightly.
Heat 2 tbs butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip and coat both sides of each sandwich in the egg mixture and cook it in the butter. Cook 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and the cheese is melted.
The recipe makes 4 sandwiches. Serve with strawberries on the side. Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours.
