Ingredients
Pantry
2 tbs Sugar
2 tbs Flour
½ loaf Brioche Bread
Fridge and Freezer
1 cup Milk
1 cup Cream
4 Eggs
3 tbs Butter
1 basket Strawberries
Directions
Wash hands with soap and water. Slice half a loaf of Brioche into 8 slices.
Wash the strawberries, cut off the stems, and chop. Toss strawberries with remaining 1 tbs of sugar and half of the flour.
Add butter to a medium saucepan over medium heat. Once butter is melted, add strawberries and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce darkens and thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
Shake the carton of cream well. Pour 1 cup cream and 1 tbs sugar into a bowl and beat with an electric mixer until whipped cream forms. Place in the fridge until ready to use.
Preheat a large, wide skillet (or griddle) over medium-low heat. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the skillet.
In a shallow dish, combine the milk, eggs, and the rest of the flour. Dip a slice of bread in the egg mixture, being sure to let it soak for a few seconds, then turn it over and repeat. Lift the bread and allow excess to drip off before transferring to the preheated skillet.
Cook toast 3-4 minutes before turning over and cooking another 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Repeat with remaining pieces of bread.
Top the French toast with whipped cream and strawberry sauce. This recipe makes 4 servings. 2 slices is 1 serving. Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours.
